I don't have time to cook healthy!

By:
Sue Gilbert

Question :

Dear Sue,

Ever since my husband and I relocated and started different jobs we haven't had enough time to cook or exercise the way we used to -- or would like to. How can we start eating home-cooked, healthy meals for dinner? By the time we get home, either of us feels like spending time in the kitchen. We desperately need recipes that aren't time consuming, but are good for you. Thank you for your help.

Answer :

Dear iVillager,

Doesn't it seem that the more we hurry, the more behind we actually get? A healthy diet is never more critical than when we are stressed out. Unfortunately, fast food doesn't usually equal healthy food. Check out my suggestions for healthy fast food.

It may be that cooking will have to wait for the weekends, with workday dinners being more like a healthy lunch ... fresh breads, simple salads, low-fat cottage cheese and fruit desserts. Some work-laden people set aside a large portion of time, one weekend a month and put together an array of frozen meals that can be used during the work week. You can search for recipes based on your time constraints with the Recipe Finder. A happy and healthy lifestyle to you!

Best wishes,
Sue
